Adult Addiction Services and Programs

If you are an adult (19 years of age and older) interested in receiving counselling, and/or referral services about a concern related to alcohol or other drugs, please drop in to either of our locations (see below) and ask for an Alcohol & Drug Self-Report package. You may complete this package at your convenience and submit it, in person, to reception at either office.  Reception staff will then provide you with an appointment for an Intake Interview.

During the Intake Interview, you and a professional counsellor will meet to discuss your current concerns, needs, and goals, and developed a plan for services.  This plan may include services such as individual, couple, family, or group counselling, or referrals to other services in the community. Please check with your counsellor concerning the availability of individual, couple, or family counselling.

Where there’s a chance ...

Trevor is 680 days drug and alcohol free.

Before deciding to quit he came within 12 hours of losing his life. He had “hit rock bottom” . He wanted to kill himself. He saw no way out of the addiction that took everything from him – his family, his business, his belongings and the roof over his head.

Trevor first sought help from SHARE 8 years ago. He knew what he had to do but it was too hard.   “SHARE kept that door open for me because they planted the seed that there was help.” Five years passed before Trevor “hit rock bottom”. When Trevor walked back into SHARE three years ago he was welcomed and referred to Rhea, an adult addictions counsellor.

It took another year before Trevor made the choice to give up drugs. “She comforted me, encouraged me, pushed me gently and guided me into the right direction but it was always my choice.” Once out of treatment, Trevor returned to Rhea for post-rehabilitation counselling. “I lived for my next visit with Rhea. “

... There’s hope

 Meet Trevor.

“I would be dead without help from SHARE.  I am a drug addict, I will always be a drug addict but I will never use again.”

Today, Trevor is working, has a home, food, and gas for the car his friend gave him. He has good friends and is happier than he’s ever been. He has boundless compassion for those who are still using and is visibly pained knowing he can’t help them. The choice to stop using is theirs.

When there’s a chance to make a choice, there’s still hope.

Our COUNSELLING SERVICES support people as they get to the place where they can make a decision to make change then through change and into stability. Our YOUTH ADDICTION PREVENTION PROGRAM helps kids develop the skills and confidence to make the decisions that will help them become who they want ...from the start.
Your gift helps people like Trevor survive, make choices and make changes that help them become contributing citizens of the TriCities. It’s a gift of hope.

PLEASE GIVE TODAY. As long as there’s a chance, there is hope. Help us make the most of that chance.

Yours sincerely,

Joanne Granek and Trevor
