The SHARE Alcohol & Drug Addiction Program invites you to attend any or all of their current Education Series' sessions. This series covers important information for those who have an alcohol or drug problem or for those concerned about their use. These sessions will help those affected by others’ use and help one understand addicts and addictive behaviour. Topics will vary from week-to-week, as outlined below. The format consists of a video, a brief presentation and an open discussion, all within a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

Jan 11: Use, misuse, abuse – how people become addicted.
Jan 18: Medical aspects and effects of alcohol & drug abuse. What happens to the body & mind under the influence.
Jan 25: Alcohol - How dependence develops; controlled using; effects on pregnant women.
Feb 1: Cocaine & crysal meth - the struggle to recover, and what long-term recovery looks like.
Feb 8: Relapse Prevention – discussion on the psychological, emotional and physical aspects of relapsing and what can be done.
Feb 15: Stress - learning how to cope with little and big problems without using.
Feb 22: Anger – understanding your anger & learning how to manage it more effectively.
Feb 29: Trauma - How substance misuse often occurs with people who have experienced childhood abuse. How these experiences may cause relapses or continued misue.
Mar 7: Drinking, Drugs & Driving - How the new laws will affect you. You will learn about "Blood Alcohol Levels" (BAL) the .05 determining impaired drivers. We will also discuss how drugs impair our judgment.
Mar 14: Mental Illness, Depression & Addiction. Many people have a substance problem & are coping with mental issues. Understanding the links between the two issues will be tonight's goal.
Mar 21: Substance Affected: How others misue or abuse of alcohol and drugs affect us. How to help others.
Mar 28: Stage II Recovery - Life in the Future
