| The telephone service is immediate, free, confidential, anonymous, non-judgmental, open 24 hours and easy to access; our caring volunteers are just a call away. If someone calls and is not sure what kind of help they may need, our volunteers can take the time to listen and explore some possible options that feel comfortable to the caller. We provide callers with emotional support and referral information on a wide range of issues. |
What is it like to volunteer for the Crisis & Information Line? |
| It is a very satisfying volunteer opportunity to work directly with people in need while building your communication skills; with each call, you know you’re making a difference. We offer an 8-week 60 hour training program several times a year, providing qualified applicants with all the necessary skills including active listening, person-focused helping model, limit & boundary setting skills, emergency intervention and community resource information. In addition to receiving extensive crisis line training and on-going support, you will gain helping skills valuable for work, school and personal use - not to mention have a great time meeting other like minded people who care to make a difference! |
