SHARE’s Sweet Success

Guests of SHARE’s fifth annual Just Desserts gala tasted the culinary creations of nine chefs from well-established TriCities eateries at Red Robinson Theatre. While the crowd tasted each treat to choose the top, they were dazzled by the aerial dance, balancing acts and contortions of circus performers.

The gala, organized by a team of volunteers raised over $80,000 for SHARE Family and Community Services. The money will help SHARE deliver services to an estimated 60,000 people annually, including counselling for adults and youth, three food banks, a range of therapy services for young children and housing for families.

“As the presenting sponsor, we were thrilled that this gala raised over $80,000 for SHARE Family and Community Services,” said Doug Morneau, Chief Rhino of Rhino Marketing Inc. “At Rhino, we are committed to giving back to our community and this event was a great opportunity to do that and have some fun at the same time. We’re proud that we were involved.”

Just Desserts is a departure from traditional galas. We’ve had rave reviews, says Heather Scott, Director of Development of SHARE. Just Desserts delights all the senses. There’s ample room to socialize with friends, the circus entertainment was spectacular and our guests loved the desserts, the midway games and paid particular attention to the auctions.

Chef Brent Fisher of The Port Moody Boathouse took the Best Dessert award for his Dinner and Dessert, a chocolate éclair, with brownies, candied strawberries and whipped cream, while Chef’s Nathalie Escudero and Liam Grainger of Luscious Creations won the People’s Choice award for their Trufflecious Caramel Cheesecake.

The gala was made possible by the commitment of the business community including sponsors, restaurants, the video producers, game developers and entertainers. Our organizing committee is already planning next years event.” Information will be posted at www.sharejustdesserts.com
